MUDS to a point a MAJOR part of ancient history that has slowly been replaced with pretty graphics.

Dizzymud is one of the longest running muds around. There are others of course, but this is the one I like.

A mud is all text based. You type the word NORTH, it describes the place you are at, what monsters (called Mobs) are there, other players, and so on.

You type KILL GOBLIN and combat starts. How fast can you type?

You will have to use your machine's Telnet client, or download any of many clients around.
